Every time I post my opinion about the latest version of Guitar Hero, people keep leaving comments to the effect, “Why don’t you just play the real guitar?”
Let me explain why I don’t go out and play a real guitar.
Given all that, going out to Best Buy, buying a game for $50 with a guitar controller and being able to play a game that simulates playing guitar, and being able to play anytime I want (perhaps at 1:00 AM) is far preferable to shelling out money for a real guitar, a monthly fee to someone else to teach me how to play it correctly, and the time it would suck out of my day.
Capish? Now leave me the hell alone.

Forget about learning the guitar, learning the accordion is lots more fun…. ;-)

I wonder if those same people ask other gamers…
“Why don’t you just steal a real car?” (Grand Theft Auto)
“Why don’t you just play professional football?” (Madden Football, NFL2K#)
“Why don’t you just kill real soldiers?” (Call of Duty)
“Why don’t you just build real buildings?” (Tetris)
I actually play the real guitar and I still find Guitar Hero to be incredibly entertaining. Rock On!
Steve,
Have you considered learning to play the real guitar?
*ducks*

@Dan, I play GH because it’s MUCH cooler than playing music on some lame-o guitar. I mean, who does that anymore?
I play Guitar Hero because… wait for it… it’s a game! :) Imagine having fun playing a game – that’s just crazy!
Of course, real guitar is still fun as well… But that’s not the point ;)
I play it because it’s fun as h*ll. And for all those reasons you named, minus the daughter. I spend most of my time at work, with my wife, or running errands. When I have free time, it’s GH2. (Just got into it recently and heard 2 had better songs than 3. I’ll have GH3 soon enough.)

hey there everybody this is the best game that i have ever played there is so much drama to it.
Hey guys,
Like Scott, I play this game because it SIMULATES a real guitar and there’s more playability and it’s cheaper. For example, in Guitar Hero you just pick up the guitar, go over the basics and then rock out, whereas with a real guitar you have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on something that only has value as an instrument if you then put money into lessons and maintenence. Also, it’s fun and I’m reletively good at it. XD
