Guitar Hero I was a lot of fun for me. I enjoyed playing almost every single song on the set list and made a CD that has just about all of the songs on it. Songs that I had never heard before are now some of my favorites:
When I heard they were releasing a sequel, I couldn’t wait. When they released an early song list, I was excited to see some favorites on there like YYZ and You Really Got Me. Now that I finally have the game and have been playing it for a couple of weeks, it’s been a real let down with just a few bright spots. So far I’ve enjoyed playing all the songs that I know, but the lesser known songs aren’t fun to play at all – not like the first time I played Take It Off and fell in love with it.
These new songs – like Laid To Rest and Who Was In My Room Last Night and Carry Me Home to name a few – are boring as hell. There’s not a kickass beat or rhythm or lyrics to the song that makes me want to play them over and over again. I just want to get past them so that I never have to play them again. My latest conquest, Carry Me Home, was torture on the Hard level, and not because it was hard to play (which it was… very) but because it’s an awful song.
In fact, the entire set list for Furious Fretwork are all songs that I know I’ll never play again once I beat them. Well, besides the encore which is one of my all-time favorite songs. Maybe it’s because I’m not in my teens or twenties any more and my reflexes aren’t what they used to be, but I don’t like playing a song on this game just to prove how fast I can play notes. I want to enjoy playing it.
On many of these songs, I simply am not enjoying myself. They are obstacles to getting to songs that are good.

Yeah, uh , I LOVE GUiTAR HERO 2!!! I mean some of the songs are dubmb and boring, but still, you’re just letting it get to you. It’s a game for crying out loud! Every game has a whole bunch of stuff that nobody likes doing, because what would a game be without it? Too easy and smooth. This is a guitar game anyway. I mean, in order to experience the feel of a guitarist, you have to go through all of the fun (and boring) parts that they have to go through too.
***Dumb.
Sorry about that.
I hate the song list on GH2 – only 25% of the songs are any good – unless you were born after 1995. What a friggin joke. it is a GAME – yes – but it is a ROCK game that requires you to play precisely to the rytyhm – which absolutely sucks ass if you hate 75% of the f’n songs.
the songs are good. thats all i have to say.
Well, there’s no accounting for taste ;)
dude u suck! guitar hero 2 is the best game ever! dont diss on the game. o yeah if u dont like the song just change it to one that u like and make a custom fret board. (glitch in the game) instructions are on the scorehero.com forums
Ne1 having problems with “Expert” locking up? It won’t let me in, it seems to freeze.
GH2 freezes up a LOT. Career Mode is sheer torture because of it. I can’t get into the Store to buy new stuff – it locks up just as the door rolls up, EVERY TIME. This is on Medium (sue me, I just started playing it), so I’d assume the lock-up issue is prevalent throughout all levels of difficulty. What a shame, the game is great. Could have been better.
I’m finally glad someone was brave enough to say it. Guitar Hero 2 COMPARED TO Guitar Hero 1, sucks in general. And I can’t believe that was the version that went to 360. I fell asleep through the frets. It almost felt like it was phoned in. The Rockin 80′s should win me back to the game. As far as I’m concerned and everyone around me, GH 1 and probably GH:Rockin’ 80′s will be the ones that really exist.
Ok, ok i know that the gh2 stelist is a piece of fecal matter, so just get custom songs. All you have to spend is like 50 bucks and you’re good. No modchip required. Go towww.scorehero.com, they have an idiot proof guide to do it all. And it works well.
i agree with ateve guitar hero 2 suck ass
they should have let the public decide on an
overall scale for the song list!
fuck off man anthrax and lamb of god and rush all kickass if you dont like the songs you can piss off mate.
I enjoyed many of the songs and the more I play it the better they are getting. I have to agree about Carry Me Home though. I absolutely hate this song. Not only was it hard to get five stars on medium for me, but I can’t beat it on hard. It is my last song (except for the encore which I know I can beat on hard). I played it 20 times in a row and half the time I failed within the first 12 percent. It just isn’t an attractive song to listen to and I am not enjoying the experience with it. I promised myself at the beginning that on my main career I wouldn’t let my friends help me out, but with this song I am really re-thinking that idea.
