@bokel: Yes, Cairngorm is a rigid implementation with no room for thinking outside the "box", and that can definitely have advantages. However, it also has disadvantages, and those outweigh the advantages in my mind.

As for helping large development and maintenance, the same can be said of ANY framework, as long as the development team responsible for the application know its implementation.

When i read "In my continuing effort to avoid Cairngorm" i thought, oh my dear, just another Cairngorm bash. But when i read "while allowing the actual implementation up to the developer and architect. Cairngorm does not fit this idea" i understood your intention better.
One of the main goals of Cairngorm is the exact opposite: All implementations should follow the same structure. No need for the architect to get creative. This is very helpful in big teams and also in terms of maintenance.
So if you don't need this, why not trying something else. Btw., do you have Parsley on your list as well? See http://www.spicefactory.org/parsley/ It's not tag oriented though.

Cheers

That last sentence kinda sums up the way I felt about the ColdFusion community when there was only FuseBox and Mach-II.
