Moving on to Nashville

On Friday, I accepted a position in Nashville to head up the ColdFusion GUI Architecture team for a good company there.  Since Michelle and Sabrina are still in Guatemala, it’s going to be hectic getting the house fixed up, things moved to storage, finding a place to live in Nashville and then getting the essentials moved down there.

If anyone who currently works in Nashville gets around to reading this, I would love to hear what kind of support groups exist for technical folk – whether it be general, Adobe-specific, or ColdFusion-specific.

We’re looking at leasing a place for a year around the Bellevue area, since we’ve heard good things about it.  However, a good friend of mine who moved South a few years ago recently told me that I’ll have to get used to sweet tea, grits(!), and fatback (sounds foul).  Also, the thought of my daughter growing up with a small southern accent is strange, but at least I’m glad she won’t be exposed to Pittsburghese except in small bursts.

My daughter the camera ham

Sabrina’s been teething lately so she’s been majorly cranky, Michelle tells me, but it seems no matter how upset she is, she’s always willing to smile and talk for the camera.

Last Day in Antigua for me

Today we headed out early to hit the marketplace so that we could get Michelle water, food, cooking utensils, baby “stuff” and, as usual, a case of sunburn for me.

On our way to the markets, Michelle was struck by the composition and had to snap it.

So we finally get there, amongst the thousands of other people, and are able to round up most of the items that she needed, sans the water (too heavy) and trashbags (forgot). However, we did pick up a bright, neon pink broom which I enjoyed carrying through the crowded streets of Antigua.

Sabrina

Finally got a few pics of Sabrina just being happy. That makes me happy.

And just a random shot of a house that was very rustic and beautiful, except for the barbed wire they had wired on their roof…

Pizza and Wi-Fi

By far my favorite small restaurant had this sign posted outside in handwritten English stating very clearly what they had: pizza and wi-fi
