Final Day with my Daughter

I’m doing my best to compartmentalize the fact that this is my last day with Sabrina for a few months. I’m going to enjoy every moment today and not worry about tomorrow until tomorrow – because I’m afraid I’ll lose it.

We’ve had such a great time here and I wish we could either stay longer or just bring her home today, but I have to have patience. It’s been beautiful down here every single day. No colder than 68 and no warmer than 76. I could handle winters like this anytime.

So here’s my last group of photos to share before we head home in the morning.

My self-portrait by the pool…

This amazing midnight-blue bird who was begging for peanuts while I drank my cerveza

A very odd look at bath time. Almost looks like, “What the hell are you people doing to me?”

Happy Sabrina and Parents

Saturday
Dec 9,2006

Sabrina has been such a happy baby since we got her.  She just smiles all the time and we only get a little bit of crying when she’s hungry.  We’ve also been lucky that she’s been sleeping throughout the night.  We get her to bed between 10-11 and she sleeps until 7.  Well, except this morning when I got up at 6:15 and wanted to hold her so I woke her up and fed her.  She didn’t mind at all.  That expression “never wake up a sleeping baby” hasn’t reared its ugly head yet with Sabrina.  I promise I won’t push my luck.

I don’t want to wake her up one day and have to spend the next hour and half trying to calm her down.  It’s just that I only have five days with her now and I want to spend as much time as I can taking care of her and letting her get to know me.

Here’s some more pics…

Hola from Guatemala

Friday
Dec 8,2006

This is our third day in Guatemala and I’m finally taking time away from doting on my daughter to post some pictures of the 2nd woman in life.  I never knew that I could love someone this much this quickly.

Here’s a pic of me meeting Sabrina for the first time (and getting scolded by the foster mother for holding her too low).

This is the hotel in which we are staying.  A gorgeous hotel with a great staff.  We’re staying in the “baby floor” where all of the adoptive parents stay.  In fact our room is right across from the common family room which is VERY convenient.

Here’s a great pic of Sabrina having some crazy fun in her bouncy seat

And of course a pic of her in her Santa Baby suit.  This pic is in the running to be on our Christmas card this year.

I’ll post one more time before we leave on Monday and upload some more pics of the newest addition to the Brownlee family.  Sabrina is the perfect daughter for us.  She’s not too fussy, but not too laid back either.  She smiles a lot and thinks that daddy is goofy (which I am).

I’m a sucker already.
